Nurses possess a unique body of knowledge through institutions, and real-life reflections. The ability to apply the knowledge acquired to clinical settings is a great practice in nursing. Apart from learning about the pathology behind a disease, or pharmacology behind a medicine, nurses gain insight on different theories and models. “Practice based on models or theories allows for hypotheses about practice, which make it possible to derive rationales for nursing actions”.
In this paper the writer will be focusing on the Martha Rogers’s Science of Unitary Human Beings. The emphasis of this model is to view the patient through a holistic approach.
The writer will contrast their own nursing metaparadigm with Rogers’s theory using scholarly literature. The four key concepts that will be highlighted are; the person, health, environment and the nurse.
