Anne Frank Essay Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a person of the Jewish faith during World War Two, to go into hiding in a cramped apartment for two years? Anne Frank didn’t have to wonder, because all of this became a reality in November of 1945. Anne Frank from “The Diary of Anne Frank” by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett is a character who has an intimate connection towards a diary. Anne is an inspired 12 year old Jew with a good head on her shoulders. While she is still a typical young adult, she comes across as a little bit of an old soul.
Her character comes alive through the diary she receives from her father for her birthday. The diary is a part of her, a part who she was. She comes alive to whoever reads her words. Not only is she relatable, but you can almost feel the emotions that she felt. Anne is defiant, caring, and positive. Let me first start this paragraph off by telling you the definition of the word defiant. Defiant means boldly resistant and challenging. Throughout the whole play Anne is defiant time and time again.
Anne shows lots of times that she is defiant by refusing to do what people tell her what to do, specifically when people tell her to be more like her sister Margot. An example of a quote from the play that Anne says is, “Margot, Margot, Margot, that’s all I hear from everyone, how wonderful she is, why aren’t you more like Margot. ” This shows how Anne is defiant because everyone wants Anne to be like Margot, but she refuses and continues to be unique and act like a leader. To conclude this paragraph I will also say that Anne is very defiant towards her mother because she is not very fond of her.
In spite of Anne being defiant throughout the play, Anne is still very kind and caring. Anne’s kindness and caring is portrayed through her constant adoration of the world and through her relationships with others. Even though Anne disliked her mother and the man she shared her bedroom with (Dussel), she still found compassion for them. An example of an act of kindness and caring that Anne does is taking Dussel’s suitcase when he arrives at the apartment to move in. Dialogue from the play backing up what I stated is, “Let me help. She takes his briefcase]… “This is kindness and caring because she is helping out someone she has just met a few minutes before this. To summarize, no matter if Anne has just met the person or even known the person for years, she finds the best in them and pulls it out of them to make their relationships stronger. Finally, the last adjective describing Anne’s long list of personality traits. The adjective I will be using is positive. Anne is positive throughout almost every situation that happens in the cramped apartment.
Anne always had a good attitude towards everything and everyone. A famous quote that Anne said was, “In spite of everything I still believe people are really good at heart. ” Anne is very positive because even when she knows there are terrible executioners killing innocent people she still believes they are good at heart, which is remarkable. Another positive quote Anne Frank wrote/said was, “The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely, or unhappy, is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature, and God.
Because only then does one feel that all as it should be and that god wishes to see people happy; amidst the simple beauty of nature. As long as this exists, and it certainly always will, I know that then there will always be comfort for every sorrow, whatever the circumstances may be. And I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles. ” This quote is also very remarkable and sums up why Anne Frank was such a positive person. Anne Frank was one girl that changed millions of people’s lives.
Anne inspired people years ago and continue to inspire and awe people every day of modern life. Despite Anne being somewhat insubordinate, she also was a compassionate and constructive individual during the time of period of June 12, 1929- early March 1945. Anne is one of the most renowned and most talked about Jewish victims of the Holocaust. Anne’s diary has become one of the world’s most widely read books. Anne Frank was a defiant, positive, caring, and well-rounded young adult. Anne Frank is a figure that will never be forgotten in history.
