Booker T. Washington and W. E. B Dubois were two celebrated African American leaders during the late 19th and early twentieth centuries. They were both militants and wanted inkinesss to hold an instruction ; they besides wanted to stop favoritism towards inkinesss. These leaders both wrote great addresss which clearly specified what they thought was right for African Americans. Even though Washington and Dubois focused on the same societal. political and economic issues. they strongly disagreed on schemes of accomplishing their end of equality.
The first African American leader that changed America forever was Booker T. Washington. Booker T. was one of America’s greatest African American leaders who believed that inkinesss deserved to be equal. Booker T. chiefly focused on instruction. he wanted inkinesss to concentrate on their instruction and non equality. He believed that if inkinesss chiefly focused on acquiring equality. than inkinesss are blowing their clip because racism and hatred will ever be a portion of mundane life from now and even in the hereafter for all different sorts of races. civilizations and spiritual beliefs.
Booker T. wanted inkinesss to hold something called “Industrial Education” . and this certain type of instruction provided the accomplishments needed for occupations that were available to the bulk of African Americans. Since he was chiefly concentrating on inkinesss in the South. he wanted inkinesss to get the hang and be advanced at agribusiness and agriculture accomplishments. Booker T. stated that overtime. Whites will see that inkinesss have duty and committedness of being an American citizen. This will gain regard and equality from Whites and accepted as citizens of the United States of America.
Booker T. Washington was recognized as being a great talker. He gave many motivational addresss to black people stating non to allow Whites command them because as American citizens you are free to make whatever you want. He told inkinesss to believe positive and stop concealment from people that are seeking to set you down in society and support yourself on what you think is right. He told white people that you are undervaluing inkinesss for what they could carry through in society ; you are being disrespectful to melanize merely because of their tegument colour.
The 2nd African American leader that changed America forever was W. E. B Dubois. He focused on the exact opposite things that of Booker T. Washington. Dubois was besides chiefly focused on instruction as Booker T. Washington was. but he believed that inkinesss should be book smart and be every bit good educated as a white individual. this was called the gradualist political scheme. Dubois realized that Booker T. Washington was suiting white involvements in his address called the Atlanta Compromise. this made many people shocked on how Washington was fundamentally stating that you can handle inkinesss as unequal’s and know apart us every bit long as we get a nice instruction. Dubois and his protagonists responded to this address by set uping the Niagara Movement.
The Niagara Movement was a group of African-American civil rights militants including W. E. B Dubois ; they wrote a address that demanded for equality and to discontinue favoritism. The address claims that as American citizens. we have rights and by non giving these rights to us. you have made no achievement on what you founded this land for.
Dubois does non believe in force but believes that forfeits had to be made in order to acquire African Americans to be seen as peers. He labels his address in Numberss from one through five and in each petition ; he explained each of his demands in a really aggressive tone. He sought for an immediate alteration and will non be satisfied by the small alterations that will be made over clip.
Both Booker T. Washington and W. E. B Dubois both had great statements and doctrines for seeking to acquire African Americans to hold hereafters of being seen as peers. but I felt like Booker T. Washington made more sense at the clip. Booker T. understood that inkinesss would ne’er be seen as peers and he accepted it. Booker T. preached that being equal is non all that of import but as clip goes by. we will acquire accepted in to this state as peers. He said this to inkinesss because he didn’t want inkinesss lose religion on of all time being seen as peers but alternatively. inkinesss started concentrating on themselves and lived their day-to-day lives without anyone seting the down in society. There are still many people that are racist but now they have learned to accept it and transport on with their lives. Booker T. Washington’s theory will ever be a portion of our state and other states all around the universe.
