There are many different creative activity myths from different faiths and different civilizations. Two of the many creative activity myths are the creative activity myth of Genesis and the creative activity myth of India. Although these are both creation myths there are still some similarities and some differences between the two. The similarities between the Genesis and India creative activity myths are that both of the Godheads are benign and both of the Supreme beings are supreme while the differences between them are that the grounds why adult male was created were different and the creative activities are accomplished in different ways.

The two creative activity myths of Genesis and India are similar because both of the Gods are benign. In the creative activity myth of Genesis. God gave everything that was needed for endurance. and places it on the Earth. In the myth God says. “ Behold. I have given you every herb bearing seed. which is upon the face of all the Earth. and every tree. in the which is the fruit of a tree giving up seed ; to you it shall be for meat” ( Page 41 ) . In the creative activity myth of India. Brahma is besides benign. He is benign because he knows what the worlds need in order to thrive and gives it to them. In the myth. it says “Now Brahma knows that these first worlds would necessitate fire to thrive. So he created fire out of his ain mouth” ( Page 40 ) . This is what makes Brahma benign. Another similarity between the creative activity myth of Genesis and the creative activity myth of India is that both of the Supreme beings are supreme. In the myth of India. it says that “In the beginning. there was nil but the Great Self Brahman. That is to state nil but Brahman existed. When you sacrifice to this God or that Goddess. it is truly merely Brahman that you are idolizing. He is behind all things” ( Page 40 ) . In the myth of Genesis. God is supreme because God created everything that is populating and that is non populating. he created everything that is in being. What makes god supreme is his power. This is because he has the power to make anything and everything in which he pleases.

The differences between the creative activity myths of Genesis and India include that adult male was created for different grounds. In the myth of Genesis. adult male was created to dwell and rule the Earth. In the myth is says “Let [ adult male ] have domination over the fish of the sea. and over the poultry of the air. and over the cowss. and over all the Earth. and upon every crawling thing that creepeth upon the earth” ( Page 41 ) . However. in the myth of Indi. adult male was created for a different ground. In the myth of India. adult male was created because Brahma was lonely. The myth says that “He yearned for person to maintain him company and his ideas split the impermanent organic structure he was utilizing into two parts. like the halves of a clamshell coming apart. ” ( Page 40 ) Brahma created adult male for one ground and that ground was so Brahma could hold person to maintain him company.

Another difference between these two creative activity myths is that the creative activity of adult male was accomplished in different ways. In the myth of India. Brahma’s creative activity is accomplished by him naming the worlds forth in his ideas. In the myth it says “and so the animals of the Earth were developed by Brahma naming them Forth by name and the action of the male and female. Therefore. Brahma is inside of every life thing for they came from him. ” ( Page 40 ) In the creative activity myth of Genesis God accomplishes his creative activities by talking. So when God created adult male he said “Let us make adult male in our image. after our likeness…” ( Page 41 ) he created them by demanding it to be done.

There are many creative activity myths other than the creative activity myth of India and the creative activity myth Genesis. These two creative activity myths may be different but they are besides the same. The similarities between these two myths is that their Supreme beings are both supreme and they are both benign while the differences between these myths are that the grounds for the creative activities were different and the manner the creative activities were accomplished were besides different.
