In this era of globalization and technological revolution, education is considered as a first step for every human activity. It plays a
vital role in development of human capital and it is linked with an individual’s well-being and opportunities for better living. It ensures the acquisition of knowledge and skills that enables individual to increase their productivity and improve their quality of life. This increase of productivity also leads towards new source of earning which enhances the economic growth of a country. Students are the precious resource of the economy of a society; therefore, teachers and staff of the worldwide universities believe that if a student has the weakness of learning such things, then, it would be the barrier in order for them to succeed.

Determinants of student’s performance have been the subject of ongoing debate among Filipino Educators and Policy Makers. In our national government, there many cases of dropouts in a certain school with regarding to the low performance of a students which has its own reasons also. Based on the Labor Law Compendium, students ages 10-17, is being employed to an establishment that is not suitable for their age. In this regards, he or she must be dismissed based on clear and unambiguous ground. Any ambiguity or ambivalence on the ground relied upon by an employer denied the latter his full right to contest its legality. (PANTRANCO NORTH EXPRESS, INC.VS. NLRC, GR.NO. 114333, JAN.24, 1996)

In the hope of providing better educational opportunities for the entire students of Alabel National High School, we are now conducting a study about how far the students have gone in listening to their subject teachers. We notice that some of the common problem that the school is facing right now is the increasing number of students who failed in different subjects. As to the observation of the researcher, students can cope up with the lessons but only find difficulty in expressing it. The study will be the basis if it is effective to create and conduct an experimental activity among the students, order for them to focus in their lessons and study all of those and then get a better grade compared before. Sooner, they will be taking up their desired courses and will become professionals someday. Whatever will be the result of this, one thing is for sure, we can help them to improve their interest in learning.

Theoretical Framework
Active learning is an umbrella term that refers to several models of instruction that focus the responsibility of learning on learners. Bonwell and Eison (1991) popularized this approach to instruction (Bonwell & Eison 1991). This buzzword of the 1980s became their 1990s report to the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE). In this report they discuss a variety of methodologies for promoting “active learning”. They cite literature which indicates that to learn, students must do more than just listen: They must read, write, discuss, or be engaged in solving problems. It relates to the three learning domains referred to as knowledge, skills and attitudes (KSA), and that this taxonomy of learning behaviors can be thought of as “the goals of the learning process” (Bloom, 1956).In particular, students must engage in such higher-order thinking tasks as analysis, synthesis, and evaluation.[1] Active learning engages Students in two aspects – doing things and thinking about the things they are doing (Bonwell and Eison, 1991). A learning cell is an effective way for a pair of students to study and learn together.

The learning cell was developed by Marcel Goldschmid of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (Goldschmid, 1971). A learning cell is a process of learning where two students alternate asking and answering questions on commonly read materials. To prepare for the assignment, the students will read the assignment and write down questions that they have about the reading. At the next class meeting, the teacher will randomly put the students in pairs. The process begins by designating one student from each group to begin by asking one of their questions to the other. Once the two students discuss the question, the other student will ask a question and they will alternate accordingly. During this time, the teacher is going around the class from group to group giving feedback and answering questions. This system is also referred to as a student dyad.

Conceptual Framework
Fig1. shows the linkage between different factors and academic performance. It shows that academic performance as a dependent variable is related to the independent variables, which are parents’ social economic status and student’s former school.

The Achievement level of the Students is the dependent variable in which it is categorized into three. The Excellent which has the grade result of 90 and above. The very good which has the result of 88-89, good with 84-87 and failed of 80 and below. This result of the improvement of the students will be based on the survey conducted by the researchers through interviewing. Statement of the Problem

The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of Intellectual Anatomy in the improvement of the students learning for them to proceed to their gateway to success. In order to combat this, stronger analytical tool are needed to compare the students’ performance level. Academic performance, which is measured by the examination results, is one of the major goals of a school. Hoyle (1986) argued that schools are established with the aim of imparting knowledge and skills to those who go through them and behind all this is the idea of enhancing good academic performance. Alabel National High School whose vision is to be a center of excellence in the heart of Alabel is keen on quality assurance and maintenance of standards.

However, the academic deans and the quality assurance committee have noted that while some students perform highly and others perform do not perform well. They are concerned about those who do not perform well because if this poor performance goes unchecked, the school may lose its reputation, which may result in loss of confidence in ANHS graduates. Much as the 18 situation described here causes concern, it is not yet known why some students fail to Attain the standards expected of them. There is lack of sufficient research in the case of ANHS as to what factors affect academic performance of the students. The researcher would therefore like to establish the factors affecting academic performance of undergraduate students of Alabel National High School with specific reference to admission points, social economic status and school background.

Research Questions
i) What is the relationship between students’ admission points and academic
Performance of undergraduate students? ii) What is the relationship between parents’ social economic status and academic performance of undergraduate students?

Hypothesis
ii) There is a positive relationship between parents’ social economic status and academic performance of undergraduate students. iii) There is a positive relationship between students’ former school background and academic performance of undergraduate students.

Significance of the Study
A lot of research has been done on factors affecting academic performance of high school students but there is scarce information about academic performance of students at Alabel National High School. The study will enable the researcher to make recommendations to the school policy makers especially those in the Principal’s Office on what policies and strategies can be employed to improve academic performance in institutions of higher learning. The findings will help to review its methods of Staff including the teachers mitting students in order to improve academic performance. The report will also be a source of reference for other researchers intending to study academic performance of ANHS students. Also, the parents will be aware of this and may not be only teaching their child to correct their mistakes but to tell them the right thing to do. Scope

The study was conducted at Alabel National High School in Alabel Sarangani Province using correlation design. The content scope covered factors such as socio-economic status and school background which affect academic performance of undergraduate students. The study covered the period of academic year 2013/2014.

Definition of Terms
The following important terms on the study are operationally defined to translate clearly the ideas of the researcher to the readers of the study.

Education in its general sense is a form of learning in which the knowledge, skills, and habits of a group of people are transferred from one generation to the next through teaching, training, or research. Education frequently takes place under the guidance of others, but may also be autodidactic. Any experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks, feels, or acts may be considered educational. Learning Style is an individual’s natural or habitual pattern of acquiring and processing information in learning situations. A core concept is that individuals differ in how they learn. The idea of individualized learning styles originated in the 1970s, and has greatly influenced education.
