People like Mohandas Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., and Nelson Mandela were all major figures in history. They all used non-violent protests to help their country out of tough times. Their non-violent protests worked because they weren’t violent, even when everyone else was, and they did whatever they could to help the cause.
The first reason non-violence worked is they weren’t violent, even when everyone else was. When people were shooting they stood their ground and didn’t shoot back. Mandela said “Any attempts of violence from us would be devastatingly crushed.” (Document C) So if they had been violent, their protest would not have worked.
Another reason was that they did whatever they could to help the cause,
