John Proctor a hard-working intelligent handsome farmer who soon will be more involved in his neighboring cities tragedies than anyone who has lived there. The Crucible is Arthur Miller’s interpretation of the Red Scare and it’s his way as an artist of revolting against Joseph McCarthy and his evil ways. The character that leaves the audience deeply effected is someone who is named John Proctor.
