In the book Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen there are many relationships between work forces and adult females. This book was originally entitled First Impressions and when reading it is easy to understand how this rubric could be competently appropriate to the narrative line and characters. In these relationships one of the things that can be noted is that work forces are chiefly looking for sex and that adult females are looking for resources. There are several character relationships in the narrative that exemplify this theory. These relationships include the relationship between Charlotte and Mr. Collins. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. and Mr. and Mrs. Bennet.

There are many illustrations as to how these relationships genuinely do represent the theory that adult females use relationships to happen resources and work forces use relationships to happen sex ( LeFraye. Chapter 1 ) . In the relationship of Charlotte and Mr. Collins there is much guess throughout the narrative as to whether or non they are truly in love. This can be exemplified through looking at their interactions together and concentrating on what they do non hold. There are many instances where it is obvious that Charlotte wants to be married and that she is seeking to carry through her mother’s dream of her being married off.

Besides Charlotte seems to rape in the thought that person else could take attention of her. As for Mr. Collins. there is much item linked to his attractive force to Charlotte and being attracted to her could advance a stronger desire in him to carry through his sexual desires with her. Besides prior to Mr. Collins being with Charlotte. Mr. Collins was more interested in Elizabeth who continuously denied him and didn’t want to be with him. This farther promotes that Mr. Collins did non demo that he was genuinely in love with Charlotte in the narrative ( Austen 211 ) .

There were many other cardinal points that were involved in the relationship between Mr. Collins and Charlotte. This relationship between Charlotte and Mr. Collins did do some jobs for Charlotte as her sister was disappointed in her in that she felt that Charlotte should keep out for true love and truly happen person who was smitten with her where as Charlotte seemed ready to settle in a despairing effort to be married and no longer hold to worry about whether or non she was traveling to hold to take attention of herself.

Charlotte seemed to be comforted by the fact that person was offering to truly take attention of her and concentrate their energies on her well being. In this fact it seems as though Charlotte was genuinely willing to settle for anything when it came to being taken attention of and Mr. Collins was happy subsiding for Charlotte whom he found attractive and yet he was besides able to promote a relationship where he would be able to hold passion in his ain eyes. This relationship personifies the tendency of the times that was when person married for economic grounds instead than get marrieding for love ( “Pride and Prejudice” 3 ) .

In the relationship of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy there are many different factors impacting how things. In the beginning it seems as though Elizabeth can non stand Mr. Darcy. “as if meaning to exacerbate herself every bit much as possible against Mr. Dacry. ” There were many other statements in the novel which would take one to believe that Elizabeth so can non stand Mr. Darcy. There are besides statements in the novel to back up that Mr. Darcy feels similarly and the same and that he excessively has no purposes of holding a relationship with Elizabeth.

“Mr. Darcy. who was tilting against the mantle-piece with his eyes fixed on her face. seemed to catch her words with no less bitterness than surprise. His skin color became pale with choler. and the perturbation of his head was seeable in every characteristic. ” The jobs between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy seemed to be that they both were head strong and had large personalities in which they were non interested in being able to prosecute in a relationship together ( Austen 313 and 314 ) . Subsequently through the novel the relationship between Elizabeth and Mr.

Darcy develops and finally. the 2nd clip that he proposes. they decide to be married. In this sense it seems as though Elizabeth holds out on get marrieding him until she believes that he is willing to originate a relationship with her and he is willing to esteem her for her ideas and beliefs and non merely that he is attracted to her or desiring to be with her in a relationship. Another cardinal factor in this relationship is that Elizabeth finds Mr. Darcy to be attractive. even when she is unhappy with who she thinks he is as a individual. she still thinks that he is good looking.

There are besides a batch of issues in this sense as Elizabeth talks a batch throughout the first chapters about her sentiments of others and she does non genuinely give others a opportunity to develop as she bases most of her long term feelings on others on the first feeling which they make. Overall this relationship personifies a successful relationship between a adult male and a adult female under the pretence that at that place has to be a long term connexion and something more than initial attractive force in order to hold a successful relationship and matrimony ( “Pride and Prejudice” 1 ) .

In the relationship of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet it is obvious that Mrs. Bennet is consumed with the fiscal ability of work forces to take attention of adult females. She is haunted with her girls being able to get married a “fine suitor” who will be able to supply for them and she is even speaking about the sum of money one immature adult male makes with her hubby as the narrative opens. Mr. Bennet seems to be concerned about his wife’s beauty which would turn out that he has a demand and a desire to happen her attractive.

Mrs. Bennet’s merely concerns for her girls are that they be married off to affluent work forces who can supply the best of life for them nevertheless she has hapless public manners and many times her girls are embarrassed by her. Besides Mrs. Bennet’s actions truly do maintain some of the most suited suers off from her girls as her actions are instead shocking to others and therefore they are typically desiring less to make with her girls in fright of holding to cover with her.

In many parts of the novel. Mr. Bennet remarks on his grasp for Mrs. Bennet’s beauty. in making so he is portraying that he is genuinely attracted to her and therefore he would be interested in the sexual relationships that would be available to him with his married woman ( Austen 213 ) . This relationship between Mr. and Mrs. Bennet personifies the relationship that can happen when person focuses on attractive force foremost. This being that Mr. Bennet fell in love with how Mrs. Bennet looked without cognizing what her intelligence was or whether or non they would acquire along. Mr.

Bennet had been more concerned with these outward characteristics than long term compatibility and in the terminal there were a batch of grounds to believe that this relationship was non all that it seemed to be ( “Pride and Prejudice” 2 ) . In the book. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. there are many relationships that exemplify the thought that adult females are in relationships in order to procure stableness and work forces are in relationships for sex. This is evident in the relationships between Charlotte and Mr. Collins. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. and Mr. and Mrs.

Bennet. In these relationships the adult females are looking for assorted securities whether fiscal. emotional or both and the work forces seem to be looking for the sexual benefits that will come from the relationships.
