Romeo was to blame for the death of him and his star crossed lover for three reasons. The first reason being he was over dramatic and aggressive with many things. The second being he would constantly act out to quickly without thinking of the consequences his actions would bring. The third reason being he fell ‘in love’ with Juliet and made her fall ‘in love’ with him too. For these three reasons I believe Romeo was to blame for him and Juliet’s tragic deaths. Romeo was the type of person who was overdramatic and aggressive with how he thought and acted.
Romeo was convinced he found his one true love, Rosaline but when he couldn’t get what he wanted from her he was ‘heartbroken’ believing he could never love again. He made a huge deal to Benvolio and Mercutio of how Rosaline was the one and no one could ever compare. (I. III. 93-98)Not only did he sulk around all day because of the heartbreak from Rosaline but he threatened to kill himself because of her not loving him. He then follows Rosaline to a masked ball but when there he spots a beautiful girl across the room, Juliet Capulet.

The daughter of his family’s sworn enemy, even though he was just crying over Rosaline just seconds before he seemed to find ‘love’ again. Romeo falls in love with Juliet at first sight he goes over and talks to her not even knowing who she is, he then kisses her and is determined to see her again. (I. V. 125-128) Not only did Romeo fall in love several times with two different girls he acted to quickly with everything. Romeo was very impulsive and did things quickly without thinking of the consequences that would occur. He was way too quick to fall ‘in love’ with Juliet after just meeting her minutes before.
Not only did he fall hopelessly in love with Juliet but he asked her to marry him after just a night of knowing each other. (II. II. 134-136) Since Romeo is a Montague sworn enemies of the Capulets, Tybalt kills Romeos friend and then without thinking and full of vengeance Romeo kills Tybalt. Tybalt happens to be Juliet’s cousin while she’s mourning his death; Romeo is banished from the city. He didn’t even realize he would be losing Juliet because of his impulsive decision. (III. I. 190-193) Romeo also made the mistake of taking his own life because he thought Juliet was dead.
Little did he know she planned a fake death to be with him, but he didn’t bother to wait or talk to the Friar he just killed himself. He acted out to quickly because he thought one thing and didn’t even second guess himself. (V. III. 110-120) Romeo was very quick with how he did things and by him acting like he did somehow cause Juliet to fall for him. Romeo was the cause of him and Juliet falling ‘in love’ if he was never at that party and approached her none of what happened would have ever happened. He saw a girl that was pretty and it just happened to be Juliet and he acted on his immediate feelings.
Romeo continued to try to get with Juliet even after he found out she was a Capulet which he knew would turn out terribly. He did believe he truly did love her though, they both thought it was true love. They didn’t care of their last names because what they had was more to them than anything else. (II. II. 40-51) Romeo confesses his love and asks for her hand in marriage, at first Juliet was hesitant but she didn’t want to marry Parres; so she said yes to Romeo. (II. II. 191-198) To Romeo and Juliet their love was real and no one else’s opinion could change that, they both fell for each other.
It would’ve been a whole different story if Romeo never went and talked to her and caused her to feel some kind of emotion for him. (Counterargument) There were many people that were blamed for the death of Romeo and Juliet, but the person that is at fault is Romeo. Romeo caused the death of himself and his one true love. Romeo caused their death by being overdramatic and aggressive. He also acts way too quickly and without thinking. Romeo was also the one to ignite a spark between him and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet lost their lives because of Romeos doings and thoughts.
