“Romeo I think students benefit from reading

“Romeo and Juliet” remains one of the famous plays written by Shakespeare which numerous students read it in school. I think students benefit from reading Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”. Firstly, students can learn lots of moral lessons from the story. Secondly, they can improve their understanding skills. Finally, they can learn about literary elements easily by reading the story.
Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” deals with many conflicts that are like modern day conflicts. By reading the story, students can find out the life lessons from those conflicts. For example, Capulet and Montague are implacable enemies, and they extremely hate each other. Since the conflict between them doesn’t end up quickly, it eventually causes their children to commit suicide. By seeing this tragedy, students can learn a moral lesson that hatred makes everyone uncomfortable and unhappy.
Secondly, it is beneficial for students to read “Romeo and Juliet” because they can train and improve their understanding skills. Because Shakespeare wrote his works in old English, it is difficult to understand. Therefore, if students continue to practice reading “Romeo and Juliet”, their comprehension capacity will improve.

Furthermore, students can develop their knowledge in the language. I think it is good for them to try reading books in both modern an old English.
Finally, reading “Romeo and Juliet” would be very helpful for students to learn literary elements. Rather than just studying the list of literary elements, it would be much easier to understand and remember by reading the story. Students can find all kinds of literary elements such as suspense, foreshadowing, metaphor, and imagery from the story. For example, the ending part of act1 scene4, where Romeo states “I fear, too early; for my mind misgives some consequence yet hanging in the stars shall bitterly begin his fearful date” (Shakespeare1.4.12-14), creates suspense by causing the readers to be excited and immersed in the story. By connecting the story and literary elements, students will remember them easily.
To conclude, I believe that reading Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” is beneficial to students. Students can get positively affected by the moral lessons from the novel. They can also improve in a literary way. Therefore, “Romeo and Juliet” is a very helpful novel for teenagers and their self-development.
