Technology is the practical application of scientific knowledge for a purpose, it includes the capability and skills required to apply knowledge. It has revolutionized our lives completely today we cannot think of living without a television, mobile phones and the latest addition’ our addiction to the internet. Technology is an integral part of everyday life. Rapid advancements in this field have increased the pace of life, effectively coordinating reality with imagination. In other words, we virtually move with our thoughts and as we look ahead, today’s technology has become our dated tomorrow.
Technological innovations have ensured maximum customer satisfaction. Its benefits can be seen in almost every aspect of modern day life. Technology has helped increase food output with introduction of modern day cultivation methods and irrigation technologies. Introduction of technology in the field of business has also resulted in the increase of industrial output and business growth. The move today is towards paperless transactions, reduction of cash transactions for cutting of costs, preventing tax evasion and ensuring financial safety. It has also made human life comfortable, everything we see and use in our daily life is a gift of technology. Modern tools and equipment has helped us to utilize the natural resources at optimum level resulting in better utilization of resources. Inventions like Hydel power plants, thermal power plants, nuclear power plants, etc. uses natural resources to generate power. there is also an evident improvement in methods of communication; printing press, internet, telephone, email and other communication platforms has helped us interact at a global scale. Technological innovations are also seen in the healthcare industry. Various diagnostic tools like blood pressure monitoring machines, x-ray machines etc has made possible accurate diagnosis of health related problems. Emerging technologies such as Information Technology, bio-technology, artificial intelligence, etc. are among the most important technologies of modern times. The introduction of computers, internet, smartphones, etc. have deep impact on common people. Much research are being conducted in the field of artificial intelligence.
“When the car replaced the horse-drawn carriage, we did not upgrade the horses, we retired them. Perhaps it is time to do the same with homo sapiens.” This very well explains the disadvantage of artificial intelligence and technological innovations. From this quote we can understand the current scenario of the world. Human actions in the industrial age have made the human race vulnerable to humanoid rule. Our future is clearly inevitable and if we continue progressing at the same pace we might end up dooming ourselves. The most common reaction of the human mind to achievements is not satisfaction but craving for more, due to which humans have found an alternative to make every task that demands manual labour. Although all the technological developments deserve accolades and reflect on our scientific capabilities, we forget the loss of human touch. the invention of social media and various platforms at which we can share and express our ideas and opinions on just a device has resulted in rapid decrease of human interaction. A lot of people tend to waste their time on un productive activities and have cut short human interactions. This also makes us question whether a human being is a social species anymore or not. Current Human developments and progresses have not been well executed and thought of and have not exactly acted in their favor but have acted as obstacles in its path which are stopping it from achieving the ultimate goal. We humans are just focusing on survival even if it is by implanting artificial organs or escaping death. Being the most intelligent species on the planet we have to rethink our actions and inventions. Humans have explored many ages: the stone age, the bronze age, the iron age and ad of late the industrial age which we have only tried for a couple hundred years. Before we seemingly dive headfirst into a digital, automated or artificial age we are in desperate need of an age of reflection.
With technology reaching insurmountable feats rapidly, it is destroying the planet and its inhabitants. Technology is deteriorating the well roundedness of humans by allowing them to rely on machines and become lethargic. Technology is making us socially and mentally dumb, giving false sense of reality. Weapons are being created using technology for the wrong cause of destroying the universe. For all those reasons it is suggested people should become further aware of the Trojen horse of today, which is technology.
