The first rule of building an effective inter-professional team involves first establishing leadership with each team member. Most effective inter-professional team leaders build their relationships of trust and priority, rather than fear or the power of their positions.

The effectiveness of an inter-professional team should consider each team member’s idea as valuable. This is evident in the YouTube video. The healthcare professional team leader listens to all other professionals’ contributions. She gives each one of the team members a chance to speak their mind. Even though the team leader in the YouTube video is cooperative, the rest of the healthcare professionals aren’t really attentive to whatever she says; the team members are not collaborative. She has undivided attentions in the conference room, but she tries to cope up with the situation.

Inter-professional collaboration comes with various benefits, such as empowering team members, closing of communication gaps, enabling comprehensive patient’s care and promoting team mentality (Christina, Wieczorec, Benjamin, 2016). These leads to better patient outcomes, but for the case of the YouTube video, there’s a likelihood of negative outcome for the client, the professionals and even the professional organization; he is at risk, since there is no proper inter-professional collaboration.

2.4 Organizational impact from such a team performance

The video shows lack of collaboration among the healthcare professionals; the conference is on, yet the professionals aren’t actively listening to the team leader. They’re all obsessed with a variety of items. The team leader in this case has a divided attention of everyone in her team. The client’s life is at stake, the professionals’ careers are at stake and the healthcare organization in no way expects a positive outcome; everything is at stake.

Collaborative healthcare organization structure relies heavily on teamwork, consensus and decision making based on a shared view of desired results (Branislav Moga, 2017).
