Peter de Vries was an American editor and novelist known for his satiric humor. His verse form “To his importunate Mistress” has two stanzas. On the beginning of the first stanza we can see that the first sentence is the same like in Marvell’s “To his Coy Mistress” . So we can state that Peter de Vries verse form is meant to mock Andrew Marvell’s “To Coy His Mistress” . Peter’s verse form talked about holding a kept woman. The writer describes a adult male who has a married woman but besides he has a kept woman. His married woman accepts him as it is. because she loved him.

The material things are the most of import thing in his life and he doesn’t see anything except that. All his clip he devoted her kept woman and forgets about his married woman. He bought her many expensive things. and ideas that he can with that things attract any adult female. But on the terminal he realized that his married woman is the lone who was loved him all that clip. On the terminal of this verse form we can reason that his married woman beat his kept woman and she was able to return to her hubby. “To his coy Mistress” is a metaphysical verse form. which is written in iambic tetrameter.

He besides used metaphors. sarcasm and in the first portion of the verse form the talker entreaties to the character. in the 2nd portion he expresses his emotions. and in the 3rd portion the talker uses ground. The scene for this narrative is really of import because in this verse form we have two beds of puting. the puting which we imagine and puting which talker imagines. In the 2nd verse form the talker besides used symbols. sarcasm and metaphors. Both narratives tell about kept woman. and the first sentences are same in both verse forms.

So we can state that the Peter’s verse form is a lampoon of Marvell’s “To his Coy Mistress” . De Vries’s used the same construction and metaphors like Marvell in his verse form. There are a many similarities. but there are besides differences. “To his importunate Mistress” shows stereotyped features. the most of import thing in life is money. while “To his coy Mistress” speaks of love and congratulations. In the first poem the writer used carpe diem. which describes the passion of society.
