In Shakespeare & # 8217 ; s play Julius Caesar, Brutus and Cassius are both considered honest work forces by
the populace. But, like all traits award is in the oculus of the perceiver. Honor is defined as grounds
or symbols of differentiation. Those who are placed in power are frequently chosen because of their
traits, which include being honest. If those in power have any mistakes, it could decrease their
place in the eyes of the populace.
Brutus is considered an honest adult male by all those who live in Rome. He is a
close friend of Caesar, hubby of Portia, and is besides a Senator. Brutus is drawn into killing
Caesar by Cassius, who was covetous of Caesar & # 8217 ; s grade of power. Brutus was pulled into the
strategy by letters brought to his house by Decius to do him believe that the people of Rome
wanted him to replace Caesar. Brutus besides feels that Caesar is being given excessively much power and
will destruct Rome & # 8217 ; s democracy. Brutus & # 8217 ; ground for killing Caesar is to profit Rome, he proves
this when he states & # 8221 ; If so that friend demand why Brutus rose against Caesar, this is my reply:
non that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more. & # 8221 ; After losing to Mark Antony and
Octavious, Brutus runs onto his O
wn blade. He sticks to his beliefs, non changing them for others.
Cassius is the leader of the plotters. He is covetous of the power that Caesar
holds and wants for himself. Caesar says that Cassius & # 8221 ; & # 8230 ; Cassius has a thin and hungry expression. He
thinks to much. Such work forces are dangerous. & # 8221 ; , intending that he looks underhand and is non to be
trusted. The whole thought to kill Caesar begins with Cassius, he convinces the other Senators to
make as he wishes. Cassius commits suicide because he is afraid of what will go on to him if
Mark Antony and Octavius find him. Another ground for his self-destruction is because he believes that
his work forces have lost the conflict and he does non desire to confront the effects.
Brutus is the more honest adult male because he continues to move upon his beliefs.
He ne’er gives in to the thoughts of others forced upon him, like Cassius & # 8217 ; thought to kill Caesar
because of green-eyed monster and to have power from the act. Brutus stated that his function in Caesar & # 8217 ; s
slaying was to assist Rome non himself specifically. Even his enemy Mark Antony says of him
& # 8220 ; This was the noblest Roman of them all. & # 8221 ; To be known as honest by your enemies is to
decidedly be an honest adult male.
