The movie Mumbaki is about the struggle of modern and common people beliefs being faced by an Igorot named Joseph ( played by Reymart Santiago ) . He was given the chance to analyze Medicine in Manila. The job here is caused by the different socialisation or civilization that occurs in the Philippines. There came the clip that the lead character has to take between his dream to work in other state together with his girlfriend. Nancy ( played by Rachel Alejandro ) . or carry through his responsibilities as a member of his folk.
It is clearly seen in the movie. the opposite socialisation that occurs in the Philippines. The simplest manifestation of this is the type of vesture worn by characters in the movie: the metropolis has grown to have on denims. Polo. jersey. etc. while in the mountains. they wear the traditional “bahag” or hardly bold. Besides the difference between the intoxicant from the metropolis and the one time that came from the mountain is shown in the movie. Furthermore. the usage of modern and autochthonal methods of intervention is besides shown in the movie. The methods of intervention studied in the metropolis are utilizing antibiotics to halt the spread of epidemic unwellness in the Igorots while the autochthonal method is praying to their gods/baki or to their so called ‘mumbaki’ .
